Silver Sonic was the guardian of the Death Egg, after having been rebuilt from his older form when he protected the Scrambled Egg Zone. He wasn't as fast or as powerful as Metal Sonic or Mecha Sonic, and as such was discarded by Dr. Eggman after Silver Sonic was beaten by Sonic.
